 10 Sep : Motocross Championship Round 8 Meihan
Race 1, Narita and Masuda led the race. Although they crashed every once, it was a close battle till the final stage. The engine trouble occurred on 16 laps and Masuda was obliged to the retirement. Race 2, Narita had a large lead. He reached the finish more than 20 seconds ahead of the runner‐up.
Narita talked after the race. "I wanted to win absolutely for Numata-san. He was very kind and taught mental attitude about a race. I was not able to believe his accident... Probably, he would also be pleased with today's win."

 4 Sep : Former WGP Rider Numata Killed in Accident
About 11:00AM this morning. Numata who had participated in the test of the Dunlop tire in Okayama international circuit killed in an accident. The cause of an accident is still unknown.
Noriyasu Numata (1966-2007)
Japanese riders respected Numata. He fought fifty-fifty with Honda by the powerless RGV, making full use of his technique. He beat Ukawa in 1995 and Kato in 1996. He opted for the challenge to Grand Prix. But, Suzuki stopped developing 250 in order to do a focus to 500. Therefore, he competed for two years by the machine which does not progress. If he has gotten on other factory machine...

  Takuma Aoki Returns to International Race
Former WGP rider Takuma returned to the international race for the first time in ten years. He crashed during the test in 1998 and injured his spinal cord. then, he challenges a kart race and continued recording good results. Japanese car race federation issued the race license to him at last this year. He chose the Asian rally as the first race, and finished 7th (2nd of gasoline class). Takuma is aiming at the Dakar rally.

Ogawa won showing an almost perfect riding. Kuroyama who led the race hurt his shoulder on the 8 section of 1st lap. He operated in November because his shoulder had been dislocated easily.

Since it rained till the early morning on Sunday, track condition was muddy. However, the weather improved and condition became good in the afternoon.
Suzuki's Kojima who will challenge the world championship in August won for the first time in the race 1. My present favorite Japanese MX Rider is him. And, race 2 winner Atsuta will challenge the AMA again. Please cheer them, if you go to a race.

 18 Jul : Suzuka 8 Hours - Teshima joined TSR
TSR was announced that HRC's Yusuke Teshima became the third rider.
TSR is unfortunate this year. Itoh broke the pelvis and the femur in March. And he broke the collarbone in Suzuka test last month. Moreover, Tsujimura who had tried to avoid Checa crashed this month. He injured the left hand, and received a serious laceration to the large thigh muscle.

Takeshi Tsujimura who was the former GP rider participated in the Endurance world championship on May 5 as a member of F.C.C. TSR.
TSR team manager Fujii said after race. "Takeshi's mother passed away this morning. She was sick and under medical treatment. Takeshi was told her serious condition by the telephone from a Japanese hospital yesterday. However, he finished the race, without saying to nobody. Please offer a silent prayer together for his mother."

Kuroyama returned to the top of Podium again because the physical condition had recovered at last. He operated on his shoulder last November because his shoulder had been dislocated easily. Therefore, he was not able to muscle up by the previous two rounds.

Yamaha's Nakasuga took hole-shot and began to expand the gap with the second place. He made the margin for about 6 seconds. But, he retired on the 14 laps for the machine trouble. And, Kameya who is Daijiro Kato's cousin won for the first time.

 1 Apr : Road Race Championship First Round
Norick who did the hole shot was the top to the 5th laps. Then, he fell gradually. Watanabe who was in the second group began to catch up with the top 5 from the middle of the race. He passed top Yamaguchi on the last 2 laps. I was impressed by Yoshimura and Moriwaki having occupied the podium. I cannot remember when last time was.
Champion Itoh was absent because it had fractured the thighbone when having crashed in the Motegi test on March 20.

I have forgotten to add one circuit. Although Nasu MSL was closed in 2004, it changed owner and was re-opened in July, 2006. A new owner "Red Baron" is the biggest motorcycle dealer in Japan.

 6 Mar : Japanese Superbike Test
Top teams tested in Suzuka Circuit on March 5. Course condition was not good all day. Because it rained in the morning, and the formula car had sprinkled oil in the afternoon.
Watanabe (Yoshimura Suzuki) recorded the best time (2'19.2) of this day. Norick was trying a new machine and the rain tire of Dunlop.
